MelbaToast_WholeWheatAround 3pm when one kid is napping and the other is occupying himself, I get a moment or two to myself. I surf the net, read a book, watch non-cartoon TV but in the back of my head I’m thinking about food. Lunch seems so long ago because I feel hungry and now I have to think about how far away dinner is and what I should make. Most days I make several trips to the kitchen snacking on whatever catches my eye but today I made a choice to plan a snack. I pulled out a pack of whole wheat melba toast and spread each cracker thinly with all-fruit raspberry jam. I then grabbed a diet caffeine-free cola and headed for the couch where I watched 20 minutes of Dr. Oz’s new talk show before I was interrupted by my oldest son looking for a snack too. Feeling good about myself, I gave him my last cracker and we were both satisfied with our snack.
