Christmas is quickly approaching and we’re all in the middle of the final rush to get everything ready for the big day.  This year we’ve managed to spread some of the celebration out over a few days which hopefully helps expand the joy and lessen the stress and not the other way around. This weekend we’ll be making our list and checking it twice to make sure that we have presents for everyone. I hope you have a wonderful holiday[…]

Share a smile.  Make your voice heard. Today was Bell’s Let’s Talk Day to support Canadian Mental Health.  For every long distance phone call, re-tweet or text message sent, Bell will donate 5 cents to Canadian mental health programs.   As you might have noticed, it has been awhile since I’ve posted anything.  I can’t seem to find my voice right now.  I’m going to take some time and get inspired again.  Be back soon.

I must admit that I don’t know much about politics, Canadian or American, but I do love to watch The Daily Show and The Colbert Report.  They shed a hilarious light on political topics that otherwise I would not have been aware of or interested in. This morning, Stephen Colbert’s Super PAC, released it’s financial reports and a statement which shows that since it’s inception through today, they have raised over a million dollars all in the name of a joke.  Super PACs[…]

Just a short note to say that I really appreciate thank you notes.  It might be a card, an email or a tweet like the one I received from David Chilton today.  I tweeted about my last blog post regarding his new book and he was nice enough to send the following message to me. Thank you for the very kind words! Enjoy the book. Dave If someone does something nice for you, take a second and send a thank[…]

Reading Yahoo News this morning, I came across an article on How To Be A Millionaire.  It’s something we probably all dream about and like myself, sometimes purchase a Lotto Max ticket.  We pay $5, cross our fingers and hope our dreams come true but in reality most of us will never be millionaires.  But do we really need to be millionaires?  Can we be happy with what we’ve already got? This past week a friend of mine invited me[…]

Last Saturday night, my husband and I went out on a super date.  Our evening started out (see Part 1 here)with an incredibly delicious dinner at Benihana and a short walk later we were at The Second City building to see the show Dreams Really Do Come True! (and other lies).  We have never been to a Second City performance before but have heard many great things about it.  One look at the history of comedians who have played on that[…]

This past Saturday my husband and I had a super date night.  The anticipation of this date was filled with worry, apprehension and excitement but I’m happy to report that the results were wonderful. My husband usually plans most of our nights out because if it were left to me we would probably never go anywhere.  I don’t like risk or change or new things.  I’m very happy going to the same restaurant and ordering the same food because past results have taught me that it[…]

I have fond memories of flipping through photo albums seeing pictures of my mom as a kid or my friends when they were babies.  It seems like most pictures are digital these days which means that we have thousands more pictures but we only share the crappy ones we take on our cell phones. Our family has an online photo album so that we can share photos with our families, sending out updates when we upload a bunch of new[…]

While searching the fridge for lunch ideas, I came across a chuck of Velveeta cheese that had been purchased for a previous new recipe but I didn’t use the whole block.  This sad, squished lump inspired me to make macaroni and cheese from scratch.  My mom used to make it when I was a kid and it was the best thing ever.  I couldn’t wait for my son and husband to try it at lunch to see if I managed[…]
