I must admit that I don’t know much about politics, Canadian or American, but I do love to watch The Daily Show and The Colbert Report.  They shed a hilarious light on political topics that otherwise I would not have been aware of or interested in. This morning, Stephen Colbert’s Super PAC, released it’s financial reports and a statement which shows that since it’s inception through today, they have raised over a million dollars all in the name of a joke.  Super PACs[…]

Last Saturday night, my husband and I went out on a super date.  Our evening started out (see Part 1 here)with an incredibly delicious dinner at Benihana and a short walk later we were at The Second City building to see the show Dreams Really Do Come True! (and other lies).  We have never been to a Second City performance before but have heard many great things about it.  One look at the history of comedians who have played on that[…]

The following “how to be happy” list is found in Leo Bormans’ book “The World Book of Happiness.” 1. Accept what you have. 2. Enjoy what you do. 3. Live for today. 4. Choose happiness. 5. Relationships. 6. Stay busy. 7. Don’t compare. 8. Be yourself. 9. Stop worrying. 10. Get organized. 11. Think positive. 12. Value happiness. I haven’t read this book but I saw an article about it on Yahoo News this morning.  I am always interested in[…]

My husband and I just watched the series preview of Touch tonight on Fox.  The show stars Kiefer Sutherland as a widowed father of an emotionally challenged son who sees the connections between strangers through series of numbers.  The writers have done an amazing job of weaving you through people’s lives around the world who have nothing in common, yet everything is connected.  I loved it!  I had goosebumps, tears and a happy heart.  I love shows that make you[…]

This past Saturday my husband and I had a super date night.  The anticipation of this date was filled with worry, apprehension and excitement but I’m happy to report that the results were wonderful. My husband usually plans most of our nights out because if it were left to me we would probably never go anywhere.  I don’t like risk or change or new things.  I’m very happy going to the same restaurant and ordering the same food because past results have taught me that it[…]

I have fond memories of flipping through photo albums seeing pictures of my mom as a kid or my friends when they were babies.  It seems like most pictures are digital these days which means that we have thousands more pictures but we only share the crappy ones we take on our cell phones. Our family has an online photo album so that we can share photos with our families, sending out updates when we upload a bunch of new[…]

I love entertainment.  I love movies and TV most of all.  I’ve been really lucky recently to be able to go to the movies instead of just watching them at home.  I like getting cozy on the couch with a blanket, drink and snack, either by myself, with my husband or as a whole family but sometimes I crave that communal energy you receive sitting in a super theatre with hundreds of strangers experiencing the same story for the first time.  Sound[…]

We knew it was coming.  It’s all the weather guy could talk about for days but when we went to bed last night, not a flake had fallen.  When I woke up this morning the first thing I did was peak out the window and there it was: snow.  Not as much as predicted but still quite a load of snow had fallen on us during the night.  I then proceeded to call the schools and check AM680 News to[…]

I’m a die-hard fan of sport.  Doesn’t matter what the sport is, I can get excited about anything and the Olympics is the pinnacle of all sport.  The Olympics this year is extra special for me because it is being held in Vancouver, Canada. I love Canada.  I love being a Canadian and take any opportunity to praise this great nation I live in.  My kids think I know each Canadian athlete personally because I’m so invested in their performances,[…]

In the mail on Friday I received from Foodland Ontario their Fresh Ontario Food Nutrition Guide. One side has all of the types of produce that is grown in Ontario, their seasonal availability and nutritional information. The other side has meat, dairy and legumes that are also produced in Ontario and their nutritional information as well. I went onto their website to see what other information was available. The recipe section looked really interesting so I’ve bookmarked it for use[…]
